Natasha Katz has worked with Disney Theatrical since designing the original production of Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.
She has subsequently designed the lighting for many Disney Productions on Broadway including, Aida (winning her first Tony® Award for lighting), The Little Mermaid, Tarzan, Frozen and Aladdin.
Disney Theatrical productions have taken Natasha throughout the world recreating these shows. She has also had the extraordinary pleasure of working on many shows with Casey Nicholaw, including Some Like It Hot, The Prom and Aladdin on Broadway.
She recently received her 20th Tony Award nomination for John Proctor is the Villain and in 2023 won her 8th Tony for the lighting design of Sweeney Todd.
Her over 70 lighting designs for Broadway shows also include her Tony Award winning productions, MJ, Long Day's Journey Into Night, An American in Paris, The Glass Menagerie, Once, The Coast of Utopia and Aida.
Natasha Katz frequently works with choreographer Christopher Wheeldon, including Like Water for Chocolate, The Winter's Tale, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for the Royal Ballet. She has also worked with companies such as American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, The Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera.
She has designed extensively for Off-Broadway and American regional theatres. In the world of film and TV she recently designed the lighting for the theatrical dance sequences in ETOILE on Amazon. She is a mentor for the Theatre Development Fund Wendy Wasserstein Project and was inducted into the Theatre Hall of Fame in New York in 2019.
