Tim Federle is an award-winning writer, director and producer whose career spans television, film, stage and publishing.
He created and served as the showrunner of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+, which earned fourteen Emmy® nominations, including Outstanding Teen Series.
Federle wrote and directed the feature film Better Nate Than Ever, adapted from his debut novel, which brought him Emmy nominations for Outstanding Feature and Outstanding Screenplay, in addition to a Directors Guild of America nomination. He co-wrote both Ferdinand (Oscar® and Golden Globe nominations for Best Animated Feature, Humanitas Prize winner) and the libretto for Tuck Everlasting on Broadway.
He began his career as a dancer, appearing in the original Broadway casts of Gypsy, directed by Sam Mendes, and Disney's The Little Mermaid. As an author, he has published the best-selling cocktail recipe book of all time, Tequila Mockingbird, and a series of award-winning novels for young readers, which garnered New York Times Notable Book and Lambda Literary Award accolades.
Federle is the creator of the forthcoming Disney+ series Coven Academy.
