Tim Federle is an award-winning writer, director, and producer whose career spans television, film, stage and publishing.
He is best known as the creator and showrunner of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series on Disney+, which earned fourteen Emmy nominations and a Television Critics Association Award nomination for Outstanding Teen Series.
Federle wrote and directed the feature film Better Nate Than Ever, adapted from his debut novel, which brought him Emmy nominations for Outstanding Feature and Outstanding Screenplay, in addition to a Directors Guild of America nomination. He co-wrote both Ferdinand (Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for Best Animated Feature, Humanitas Prize winner) and the libretto for Tuck Everlasting on Broadway.
He began his career as a dancer, appearing in the original Broadway casts of Gypsy, directed by Sam Mendes, and Disney's The Little Mermaid. As an author, his works include the best-selling cocktail recipe book of all time, Tequila Mockingbird, and a series of award-winning novels for young readers, garnering New York Times Notable Book and Lambda Literary Award accolades.
Forthcoming projects for Disney — where his production company, Chorus Boy, is under a multi-year overall deal — include Camp Rock 3, on which he serves as executive producer, and Coven Academy, a new TV series he created and co-showruns.
